This man and his little dog have a unique relationship. Their daily walks are never normal walks. After a few minutes walking, Louboutina or Loubie, shortening the name, stops to greet the people passing by, giving the paw, kisses and hugs.
“It’s not just a regular walk,” Fernandez-Chávez says, “It’s a walk with hugs, so we do not go too far.”
The owner never taught Loubie to do this, it’s something the animal does spontaneously. In the beginning she gave only the paw, until she began to hug people. This tradition began around Valentine’s Day 2014, shortly after Fernandez had ended a long-standing relationship. Loubie started giving his owner a paw to comfort him.
“She started to sit down and grab my hands with both paws, and then began to cross one leg over the other,” Fernandez-Chavez said. “I remember playing with my friends and saying,” At least I have someone to hold hands with on Valentine’s Day! ”
Holding hands (or hand with paws), quickly became an important gesture for Loubie, she now does this during her walks through the streets of New York.
“From then on, with every walk, she wanted to shake hands,” says the owner. “She just sat down, crossed one leg over the other and looked around like a lady.” The passing people were like, “Oh my God, she’s so cute!” ”
A few years later, Loubie began to show her affection in a different way … With hugs!
“Instead of asking me to shake hands, she just sat very close to my legs and wrapped her paws around my knees,” Fernandez says. “I thought,” That’s weird. What’s going on? “But I let her do it.
“She grabs real tight, depending on where I am, I have to make sure I’m keeping my balance!”
Thankfully, the owner of this loving little dog is not jealous … because it did not take long for Loubie to start giving her expressions of affection to other people too!
“We met with neighbors she knew and instead of just leaning on them, she started hugging them and then started doing the same to people who randomly came to us.”
This girl quickly became a star in social media. People do not get tired of Loubie and her hugs. “Photos began to appear on the Internet,” Chavez said.
But this intelligent and loving girl does not hug anyone. Her owner says she only hugs the people with whom she feels connected. “Sometimes people run and ask for a hug, but I tell them,” I do not think that’s going to happen, because she has to relate to the person first, “says the man.” But when she sits next to someone , so I say, “You’re probably going to be hugged.”
The dog seems to love hugging people … And people seem to love being hugged by her too. It is undoubtedly a gesture of unique affection!
“It’s good to see people walk away with a smile, especially with everything that’s happening now, people say it’s so good to see her on the street, she brings joy to all of us.”
Maybe you could be the next lucky to be hugged by Loubie!
