When we’re driving and get pulled over by the police, it’s perfectly natural to be a bit nervous. You want to know what you did wrong. “Was I disrespecting speed limits? Do I have a broken taillight?” But when this mother was pulled over and the cops said “Step outside the vehicle!”, her only concern was her son’s reaction.
Adrienne Hudson and her 7-year-old son, Jacob, were nervous when police asked them to stop. The boy has a disease called PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections). This condition causes him to have an obsessive-compulsive disorder, with symptoms similar to Tourette’s syndrome, separation anxiety, memory loss and hyperactivity.
This also means that Jacob gets anxious often. And, when the police stopped his mother’s car, he sat in the back seat, worried. Two police officers knocked on the window of the vehicle, and the woman answered all their questions calmly.
Boy gets anxious due to police
But, even though Jacob’s mother was calm, the boy was very stressed. The cops gave his mother a speeding ticket, and the boy became even more anxious.
When they saw the boy’s anxiety, the officers said, “How old are you? Seven? Do you like police cars?” Then, they showed Jacob the police car, let him sit down, and took some pictures of him sitting inside, looking happy and proud.”
See how everything unfolded in the video below.
It’s wonderful to see these cops’ sensitivity. They could have ignored the boy but, instead, they decided to help the boy and the mother in trouble. Share this story to pay tribute to all the generous officers in the world!
