When Prince first arrived to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in New York, he was very scared and nervous. One day, the Pit Bull was walking with his owner’s girlfriend and eventually ran away. So, the animal control took the pup to the shelter, in April.
The shelter team contacted the girlfriend, and the woman originally said she would get Prince and take him home. However, she never showed up. Prince stayed in the shelter and he looked terrified of everything.
“He took a long time to warm up to us,” said Nancy Haynes, director of behavior and enrichment at Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. “Even when you approached is kennel, he would sit back and tremble.”
Fortunately, the volunteers found something to make Prince feel more comfortable. The loving Pit Bull liked being tucked in every night. Check out one of these moments in the video below:
“He really likes that. It makes him feel comfortable,” Haynes said.
The news spread among the staff and soon everyone was helping Prince at night.
Prince’s routine is not the only sweet thing about him. The friendly dog usually loves spending time with people.
Unfortunately, Prince still hasn’t managed find a new home. “If someone he doesn’t know approaches his kennel, he can bark and be reactive,” she said.
Now, Prince is gaining confidence and the volunteers are hoping he will find the perfect family.
“He’s relatively easy,” Haynes said. “He walks well on a leash, is smart and easily trained, so he would be a great companion for someone.”
Hopefully Prince will find a loving family soon. Share this incredible story with your friends and family!
