Dogs are very faithful and loving beings, however, many people insist on ending their lives. The story we’ll meet today, talks about a little dog that was about to be put down, but fortunately, had a happy ending!
One of the technicians had the syringe in his hand, with tears in his eyes. The vets were informed that the dog was in distress and had to put her to “sleep”. However, the director of the shelter arrived and said, “Stop! Let’s ask for a second opinion.”
That’s where everything changed …
Starfish was found in a box, with legs fully extended. The veterinarian who examined her deduced that she was suffering and the best solution would be euthanasia. However, he could not be more wrong!
Starfish was taken to another veterinarian, where they made a more hopeful diagnosis: the little dog had swimmer’s syndrome. This condition made the beautiful girl move as if she was swimming, using strokes to advance.
After all, someone did not resist her charms and decided that Starfish deserved a safe and loving home. That’s how the dog got into the life of Leigh Anne Gray and her family in San Francisco, United States.
“We fell in love with this little dog, she taught us something we had never seen before,” said her new mother, Leigh Anne Gray: “When I saw Starsfish, I immediately clung to her. I just wanted to have her in my arms. ”
All family members worked hard to make Starsfish move normally. “She took her first steps and soon followed us everywhere,” says Leigh Anne.
In addition, the generous family had the help of shelter members who played a key role in her recovery.
The little girl responded very well to all the stimuli and exercises, having an incredible will power. “Starfish does not know what’s wrong with her, she just gets up and tries again, getting better with each passing day,” her mother said.
Starfish loves the whole family, but there is someone she managed to establish a very special relationship: the 5-year-old son.
“When she started to walk and, above all, when she started to run, it was an indescribable joy.” Says her mother.
