Susanna could barely move and was covered in fleas and ticks. Besides, the poor girl was extremely exhausted and hungry.

Isabel knew the Rottweiler needed help

Without hesitating, the woman called the Gulfstream Guardian Angels Rottweiler Rescue. The staff soon agreed to help. “The animals are constantly dumped outside to die,” said Laurie Kardon of the rescue organization. “It’s a very dangerous place, because a lot of trucks pass there. It’s just heartbreaking.”

Unfortunately, Susanna was completely paralyzed for unknown reasons, and doctors feared she could never walk independently.

When she regained her a little strength, the beautiful girl was transferred to the Clint Moore Animal Hospital, to find out exactly what was wrong with her.

Doctors then realized that her paralysis was probably caused by psychological factors. All of Susanna’s bones were relatively well and she also had no spine problems. However, doctors had seen numerous signs of severe abuse.

The team suspects that Susanna was used for raising puppies. Since she could not get pregnant any more, she was thrown out…

Despite being completely out of energy, her rescuers knew that this beautiful Rottweiler wanted to have a happy life.

“The first time I saw her, she lifted her head and licked my face,” Laurie recalls. “I said, ‘That’s it. This girl wants to live.”

The entire organization and the veterinary team worked to ensure Susanna’s recovery was calm. After weeks of physical therapy, the dog began to smile again. It was a long road, but everyone was thrilled when Susanna was able to walk again!

“We were all in tears,” Laurie said. “It was a relief.” Despite all the horrible things she faced, Susanna managed to wag her tail and trust people again. “She’s so happy,” said the woman.

Laurie and the rest of the rescuers will continue to take care of her until she is fully ready for adoption. Susanna deserves a warm and welcoming home. “She’s really proof of her race,” Laurie concluded. “She is strong, determined and brave, but also so sweet and loving. She has the heart of a rottweiler, for sure. ”
