Owner let dog starve because he was “too stressed” with work

It’s amazing the way people sometimes act. Nothing serves as an excuse for people to mistreat or neglect animals. But there are still people bad enough that even though you work with food, you can forget to feed your pets.

An official from an animal defense association rescued a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy in Derbyshire in a situation of severe malnutrition. The animal was not even able to walk.

Maxie, weighed only 11 pounds and had no muscle in his legs. In the months before the rescue, the dog had not been fed by its owner who said he was “too stressed” to do so.

Shaun Musson, 25, works in the KFC catering chain. He claimed that the work consumed him a lot of the time and for that reason stopped feeding the dog, which even weighed less than 7 pounds than normal for its size.

After the trial in court in the UK, the man was sentenced to 12 months in prison with suspended sentence for the same period and the payment of a fine in the amount of € 300. It was also forbidden to have any pets in the next 10 years.

Maxie, who was cared for by the Royal Society Association for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty (RSPCA), is now a healthy animal and seeks out new owners who want to love and respect it.
