Orangutan tries to fight the Excavator that is destroying his “home”

More and more humans are invading and destroying the natural habitat of many animals, and that breaks our hearts. Wildlife lives happily in nature. However, when their “home” is destroyed, their lives can crumble. The images that we are going to watch below are the perfect example of this!

In the video we can see a Excavator descending on a pile of cut trees. Suddenly, an orangutan jumps out of nowhere and desperately tries to stop the machine with his hands. The animal tries to cling to the cold metal, but slides and falls into the trees.

After all, he struggles to rise again. All the forest around him was destroyed, leaving the orangutan shattered!

The moving scene was recorded in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, when a construction team demolished a section of the Sungai Putri Forest.

Luckily, the International Animal Rescue (IAR) was nearby and managed to save the orangutan. The situation of despair shows the extent to which these animals were pushed by the hands of humans:

“Unfortunately, scenes like this are becoming more and more frequent in Indonesia,” the IAR wrote. “Habitats are destroyed and orangutans are left to starve.”

The Sungai Putri Forest is one of the few remaining houses for the wild orangutans of Borneo. However, it is under imminent threat of the expansion of oil palm plantations and other projects.

In addition, since the 1970s, Borneo’s orangutans have lost more than half of their natural habitats due to logging operations.

“Sungai Putri is home to one of the largest populations in the world and we are at a critical point for the orangutan of Borneo.” Said Karmele Llano Sanchez, director of the IAR program. “Without forests like this, they can not survive.”

The IAR is actively working on the ground in Indonesia to safeguard the homes of orangutans. Something has to be done to protect these precious monkeys.
