A man who was a woman gave birth to a baby from his partner, who was once a man. The story is seems unbelievable… but it’s quite true. Fernando Machado is a transgender who fell in love with a woman named Diane Rodriguez, who is also transgender. After dating for a while, the couple discovered they were expecting a child. Know everything below!
The lovers of Ecuador made history! Fernando and Diane are the first transgender couple to have children in South America.
The son has not yet been baptized, by choice of the couple. “We still don’t have a name, we’ll wait a little before announcing it,” Diane said.
“Being a mother is something I thought couldn’t happen to me because I am transgender. To be recognized as a woman, I have to be castrated.” She also became news in 2013 as she was the first transgender candidate for Congress. Unfortunately, Diane experienced several problems: in addition to being rejected by the family and having lived on the streets, she was abducted several times.
Despite many enemies, the couple also has many supporters, who were radiant with the pregnancy. “We live as husband and wife. Knowing our rights, we decided to have a child.”
“I started to cry of happiness, I was afraid, stunned at the same time. It was a beautiful moment. I’ve never felt this way before. I was excited,” remembers Fernando about his pregnancy. Before he had this identity, he was called Maria and lived in Venezuela. Now he tells how he met Diane: “After a few days chatting with her, I took a bus and went to Ecuador,” he says. “After three weeks living together, I became pregnant.”
Pregnancy was possible because neither Diana nor Fernando underwent sex-change surgery. Gestation occurred naturally, without the need for medical intervention.
“We live as a man and a woman, I’m a trans woman and Fernando is a trans man. The process to get here was complex, but knowing that it’s our right, we decided to add another member to our family,” Diane said.
Fernando is thrilled whenever he remembers the moment he discovered the pregnancy: “I sent the test photo to my mother. She showed the result to a doctor who announced, ‘It’s positive,'” he says. “I started crying with happiness, fear and dread, all at once. It was the most beautiful moment, I have never felt like this before,” he adds.
Share to wish the couple the best of happiness!
