They denied parole to the man who injured the dog named Caitlyn – he will serve all five years in prison

A man named William Dodson, after pleading guilty to animal cruelty last year, has been denied parole. In March, the 43-year-old was sentenced to five years in state prison after pleading guilty to an animal neglect offense with time credit served since June 2015.

At a probation hearing, the seven-member council unanimously denied Dodson’s release. Attending the hearing were also a group of anti-animal cruelty activists and representatives from the Charleston Animal Society.

“Not only the scars Caitlyn has on her nose are still visible today, she also has emotional scars.”, said Kay Hyman, director of community involvement at the Charleston Animal Society.

In the spring of 2015, Caitlyn was found walking the streets with her nose mashed and taped. Caitlyn, a Pit Bull mix, was originally delivered to Dodson by an acquaintance. The man told authorities he wrapped the tape around the muzzle of the dog to silence her barking…

Upon completion of the state prison sentence, Dodson will be taken into federal custody to serve another sentence for weapons and drug offenses in an unrelated case.

Dodson is scheduled to be released from prison in April 2018, according to prison records.
