The owner of a house in Salem, Virginia, knew there was a bear lurking in the area. Since bear’s sense of smell is several times greater than a dog’s, they can detect food from a long distance. At winter, natural food sources are very limited. So, wild animals like bears, opt for easier ways to get food instead of hunting: they steal people’s trash!
Bears usually avoid human contact. So running at night and knocking over trash cans while people are sleeping is the easiest way to get food. Once they are successful, they return over and over again!
Bears who lose their fear of people are called “nuisance bears,” reports The Human Society. They are typically young males who have separated from their mothers and are still learning to find food. Although there are bear-proof trash cans, The Human Society recommends people take their containers in.
However, an owner has discovered a new way to ward off the bears and involves a scary clown, which was probably left over from Halloween. The man was fed up of seeing his yard covered in garbage, so he came up with this genius plan.
