Rescue baby animals is a very difficult and meticulous job. Usually, these little creatures get stuck in trees, shrubs and in well-hidden places. But firefighters, in particular, are known for their excellent work in rescuing and saving animals.
So it wasn’t surprising when a group of firefighters rescued eight black cubs from a storm drain. According to captain Brian Vaughan, rescuers thought they had saved a litter of newborn Labrador puppies.
After 20 minutes, each “dog” was taken out of the storm drain and taken to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
These firefighters in rescued what they thought were puppies from a storm drain… but it turns out they’re red foxes!
What to do now?

It was there that they realized that these animals were actually red foxes. “They took them to the shelter and one of the vets said,” No, these are not Labradors, these are foxes.” Travis Sauder of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife District Manager, said he wasn’t surprised that firefighters found a number of fox pups since these animals breed in the spring.
The man added that they will take the foxes back to the storm drain, hoping that the mother will come back to take care of their young. “These animals are going to be put back where we found them hoping that the mother is still in the area and can pick up the normal duties like she would.”, Sauder said. “If the mom’s not around anymore we can take them to a licensed re-hab.”
Hopefully these incredible puppies will soon be reunited with their mother. Share this exciting rescue with your friends and family!
