Stormy is a perfect family dog: he is good with children and with animals. In addition, the pup is very affectionate and playful. However, when his family had the fifth baby, they decided the puppy no longer belonged there.
“He spent his entire life with a family with four children, two dogs and a cat,” said Alana Guerrini, Eleventh Hour Rescue volunteer. “So the woman had her fifth baby and decided that Stormy was too much.“
Stormy ended up in a Brooklyn shelter. “You could see the fear in his eyes and how he was heartbroken,” Guerrini said. “I looked at that face and it totally crushed me.”
Fortunately, Guerrini saw his profile and hurried to get him out, but it was a close call. “He was due to be put down at 5 o’clock, and it was 4:58 or 4:59 when we got the word that ‘We’ll let you take him, and he’s officially yours and off of death row,'” Guerrini said.
Guerrini and her 16-year-old son grabbed Stormy and took him to his home in New Jersey, where he will be kept until he finds an eternal home. “He jumped in my car without problems,” Guerrini said. “My son had gotten into the passenger seat and Stormy climbed into his lap.”
Guerrini could clearly see that Stormy had lived with a family before. However, the woman was puzzled to see how kind he was to her son.
A gentle dog
“He was wrestling with my son, and my son’s hand went into the dog’s mouth. Stormy left his mouth open and slowly backed his head back so he wouldn’t even scratch him,” Guerrini said. “That’s when I knew that I was madly in love with this dog.”
Stormy was also very considerate when Guerrin’s son was not feeling well. “He stayed in the room with him all day and nuzzled up with him,” she said. “And when my son got up, he was just following him. He just wants to interact with people and be loved.“
Guerrini hopes that another family will recognize him as a treasure and give him the home he deserves.
“He’s a playful 2-year-old Pit Bull,” Guerrini said. “I need to find the best home for him.”
Despite being betrayed by his former family, the loving dog had a second chance and now is very happy. Share this story if you are against the abandonment of animals!
