In some countries, the fate of our four-legged friends can be very uncertain… In most cases, a certain death awaits them. In Indonesia, there are no laws against animal cruelty and, for this reason, thousands of dogs are killed every year.
In Bali alone, more than 70,000 dogs are killed each year, so that their flesh is consumed. Recently, a witness was able to see some innocent dogs being carried in plastic bags in the streets of Tangerang. Their noses were tied and the poor animals were terrified.
The two dogs were being transported to be sold to a restaurant. Unfortunately, neither had any idea of the fate that awaited them. Chisuli Kastumi witnessed the terrifying scene and posted the shocking images on Facebook.
Thanks to the power of social networks, the publication became viral and many forces were mobilized to rescue the dogs from their cruel fate. A rescue team arrived to negotiate with the owners of the restaurant and avoid the worst.
Fortunately, the dogs were rescued successfully and delivered to a foster family.
“It is shocking to see dogs, a species that has voluntarily helped humans oveer time, treated like a piece of wood or stone in Indonesia,” said Peter Li, political analyst at Humane Society International in China.
These two puppies had a second chance in life, however, thousands of dogs are not so lucky. Let us hope that these cruel and unreasonable acts will end once and for all. Share this story if you are against animal abuse!
