Woody, a few months old Pit Bull, has faced many difficulties in his life. His problems began when he was attacked by another dog when he was very young. His owners didn’t take him to the vet, and he ended up with permanent facial deformities. However, the puppy never lost his good disposition.
When he was only five weeks old, the poor dog was abandoned by his owners.
The pup was chained in his backyard in Tennessee, all alone. The neighbors began to feed the dog, since he would have died of starvation without this help.
It was then that one of the neighbors decided to call Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation (SNARR). As soon as SNARR founder, Courtney Bellew, heard Woody’s story, she knew she had to save him.
In November 2017, Bellew met the dog in New York… There, she learned that Woody was a young puppy full of energy. “He’s very playful and very affectionate. He’s a typical Pit Bull,” Bellew said. “I don’t think he was ever a loved house pet. I think that he was sort of a dog who was left to his own devices, even when the people still lived there.”
Bellew found a great foster home for Woody, where he fell in love with his foster mother and a four-legged friend.
He proved to be a very sweet dog
Woody also quickly showed how much he loved humans. When his mom, Jamie Bond, got sick, the dog stayed with her all day: “The first day we had Woody, I had a fever.” Bond said. “He knew something was not right and he never left my side. He snuggled with me on the couch all afternoon.”
Dog with deformed face meets a loving family
Then Bellew began to look for a permanent home for the dog. She posted a photo of the animal on Facebook and found the right home for him shortly before Christmas Eve!
Fortunately, Woody has found a responsible family who loves and accepts him for the wonderful dog he is … Share this incredible story with your friends and family!
