Although they have proven that they can be as loving as any other dog, Pit Bulls are still considered dangerous by many people. However, there are several organizations that are trying to eradicate these unfair judgments.
One of them is the Animal Farm Foundation, which has collaborated with Austin Pets Alive and Universal K9. The goal is to train Pit Bulls to be canine agents! Many police departments have already seen how these pups can be obedient and hard-working.
More and more police are adopting the ingenious idea…
Pit Bulls are incredibly obedient and can be trained to do anything. So it makes sense that they are great police dogs! However, these poor animals have a bad reputation and were even banned from some communities. Fortunately, Protect Pit Bulls from BSL is trying to change mindsets.
The main goal is to show that they can be well trained, protective and professional animals.
They learn everything
From narcotics, explosives, corpses and detection of criminal fires. “Any dog that has the drive, confidence, and desire to work can do it! Breed does not dictate a dog’s ability to work,” explained Universal K9 founder, Brad Croft.
Training rescued Pit Bulls also means that the police spend much less money. Trained German Shepherds or Belgian Malinois, who are usually found in police forces, can cost tens of thousands of dollars!
Also, if they are not adopted and turned into police dogs, there is a great chance of being sacrificed in the shelters.
“We can’t base their behavior on their appearance or their past,” explains coach Bernice Clifford.
With this initiative, Pit Bulls are proving to everyone that there is no reason to treat them differently. Do you believe in the kindness and professionalism of these animals? So share this incredible story with your friends and family!
