Calf saved from slaughter and dog become inseparable friends

This family from Santa Clarita, California, faced some difficult problems once the pandemic started, as many of us. Ellie Laks and Jay Weiner, on the other hand, believed that adding a little spice to their stay-at-home lifestyle would help them cope better.

It was at this time that Ellie and Jay received a week-old calf into their home. The mother of the little calf was sold to a slaughterhouse, but these good-hearted people did not want the poor son to suffer the same fate as his mother, so they spared him and raised him in their home.

The parents, who run the non-profit rescue organization Gentle Barns, revealed, “He was suffering from acute pneumonia.” “His breathing was loud and raspy. He sneezed a lot and coughed a lot. He was sweating a lot and was running a fever. “

John Lewis Thunderheart, as the beautiful calf is called, needs medical attention due to his dangerous condition. Still, his rescuer wasn’t sure if he would make it!

Fortunately, they were wrong, as the desperate calf met Sky, a very friendly Australian shepherd, who became his perfect companion. The kind dog not only comforted the orphaned calf, but also protected him and helped him on his journey.

“I think having Sky’s help – cuddling him while he slept, cleaning his mouth, basically taking care of him – was one of the main elements that saved Lewis’ life,” the woman added.

The calf and his best friend are now inseparable and they can’t seem to get enough of each other.

Having adopted and raised Lewis had made life much simpler for Ellie and Jay during the pandemic.

Animals always teach us the importance of a pure and sincere friendship. Beautiful.
