As expected, the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle captivated thousands of people around the world. And, as expected, the ceremony was dazzling. Everything was planned to reach perfection, and the day was truly a dream come true. However, there were some secrets that are only now being revealed, such as the blue ribbon hidden in the dress of the Duchess of Sussex.
One of the most exciting aspects of this marriage was to see how the bride and groom dedicated their day to themselves and to the people they love the most. In addition to inviting people from the community, the bride and groom asked for gifts in the form of charitable giving, which was truly inspiring. But the newlyweds also added several special touches to the event. Their goal was to pay tribute to Harry’s mother and Markle’s mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Princess Diana included in the ceremony
It was easy to see Diana in many different aspects of the ceremony: from the flowers on Markle’s bouquet, which were the favorites of People’s Princess, to the jewels of the bride. The presence of Harry’s mother was felt by all. But there was a tribute to the deceased that went unnoticed. There is a tradition were the brides must take something new, something old, something borrowed and something blue for the wedding day.
In this case, the Duchess of Sussex’s “blue thing” was a ribbon that belonged to Princess Diana. Earlier reports have speculated that Markle’s “blue thing” would be the ring she used on her way to the wedding reception. But Alisyn Camerota of CNN, who participated in the marriage, denied these claims.
“There were all these little different symbols of [Diana],” the journalist said. The duchess had a blue ribbon on her dress, which belonged to the late mother-in-law. Kate Middleton used the same object on her wedding. This means the daughters-in-law carried a little of the People’s Princess to the altar.
Love for the deceased
Since the announcement of their engagement in November, the couple has always made it clear that Diana would be with them forever. The bride and groom took every opportunity to honor the deceased. When talking about the engagement ring, Harry explained how he chose his design.
“…the little diamonds on the sides are from my mother’s personal jewelry collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” said the Duke of Sussex.
“It’s days like today I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news,” he added. “But you know with the ring and with everything else that’s going on I’m sure she is…”, said Markle.
“…she’s with us”, Markle finished. It’s wonderful to see how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex never forget Princess Diana. Share if you find touching the tributes of the newlyweds to the deceased!
