Pit Bull never leaves the side of his blind friend

A Pit Bull, called Blue Dozer, was delivered to Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) and right behind him was his best friend: a small blind dog named OJ.

They have been friends since the last four years … However, recently their owner became homeless and couldn’t take care of them anymore. She made the difficult decision to take them to the shelter on one condition: they needed to be together.

It was important for the dogs to stay together because Blue serves almost as a guide dog for OJ.

They knew that it wouldn’t be long until potential adopters arrive on the premises. They were a bit anxious at first, but soon OJ and Blue settled in the shelter, as if they were on vacation.

“We do not see a combination like this very often,” said Christie Peters, the shelter’s director. “Seeing them together is super cute.”

After staying in the shelter for only two days, a family of almost two hours away arrived to find the animals. Everyone got along and the adoption was finalized soon after!

Unfortunately, after going to his new house, the unthinkable happened: the little OJ was found wandering alone in the streets… Supposedly abandoned by the person who had just agreed to take care of him.

Luckily, a man saw OJ and took him to the Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center. His microchip took him back to the RACC, which soon gathered efforts to join the dogs together. Fortunately, everything went as planned, and both dogs are back under the shelter!

The staff expressed their satisfaction in a statement: “We greatly appreciate the support of the community,” said the RACC. “The only thing that matters is for these puppies to be together… We are not going to do anything with OJ and Blue Dozer in the next few days, besides snuggling them together.”

While Blue and OJ are waiting for a loving home, one thing is certain: having a good friend around makes all the difference…

Hopefully these incredible animals will be adopted by a responsible family, soon! Share this exciting story with your friends and family!
