Qian Hongyan was abandoned at birth for not having legs. In addition to having this disability, the girl didn’t have parents to support her at the worst times. Fortunately, she was adopted by a family. Since the new parents didn’t have enough money to be able to pay for prosthetics, the grandfather put her in a ball so that the little girl could move. After that, everyone called her “Ball Girl”.
The grandfather cut a basketball and made two wooden handles. With these tools, he showed her granddaughter how she could move.
Her image, with the ball in the lower part of her body, has become viral on the internet. Many people began to make donations so they could buy a prosthesis for the girl.
Because of this, she was able to receive a prosthesis. Qian said starting to use it was not easy, but she was persistent and didn’t give up until she could achieve the greatest of her dreams: walking. But the little fighter also revealed that she wanted to learn how to swim. With great effort and tenacity, she not only learned, but managed to qualify for the National Paralympics Games Championship in 2009.
Now she competes professionally and won several championships, which allowed her to earn a good amount of money.
Qian confesses that her path was not easy, but the secret is not to give up. And life rewarded her for it. Now, Qian has received a prototype of legs that look real.
The “Ball Girl” is an example of overcoming and fighting. A living and precious proof that the will is the strongest thing in life. Share to spread this wonderful message!
