Ada is 98-years-old and has moved to where her 80-year-old son, Tom, is currently living. She decided to stay in the nursing home in Moss View, Liverpool, to take care of him. “You never stop being a mother,” she says. Although the son is already old, for the woman he still is her beautiful boy. A story that shows that there is nothing stronger than the love between a mother and a son!

The 98-year-old mom and her deceased husband, Harry, had four children: Tom, Barbara, Margi and Janet, who died at age 13. Before retiring, Tom worked as a painter and decorator. However, he had to go to the nursing home in 2016 because he had health problems and needed help.

Despite being almost 100 years old, Ada decided to take care of Tom and keep him company. She and her son are inseparable, and they love to watch television together or play cards, chess, among others. “I say goodnight to Tom in his room every night and I’ll go and say good morning to him” said Ada, who used to be an assistant nurse.

“When I go out to the hairdressers he’ll look for me to see when I’m coming back. When I get back he’ll come to me with his arms outstretched and give me a big hug”.

Tom is happy with the company and also with the nursing home team. “They’re very good here and I’m happy to see my mum more now she lives here. She’s very good at looking after me. Sometimes she’ll say ‘Behave yourself!'”, says Tom.

“It’s very touching to see the close relationship both Tom and Ada share and we are so pleased we were able to accommodate both of their needs” said the manager of the facility, Philip Daniels.
