10-years-boy reads to shelter dogs every weekend

In the face of the terrible stories of neglect and mistreatment of the most defenseless creatures, actions will arise from good people who are willing to give their grain of love to care for the most disadvantaged animals.

Evan, a 10-year-old boy is teaching the world a lesson of behavior.

At his young age, this child does much more than any adult, as his interest in animals has led him to become a unique visitor to the Animal Care Center in New York City, USA.

Instead of walking or hanging out with his friends, this boy devotes his weekends to accompanying the lonely dogs at the shelter.

But Evan doesn’t arrive empty-handed, this boy has found a unique way to entertain all the dogs to the point of distressing them, some even fall asleep.

With the book in hand, Evan becomes a true dog trainer and makes them completely forget all that loneliness and sadness.

This dog lover’s initiative began with a cruel personal experience.

One day Evan’s mother found an emaciated cub tied to a fence in a dangerous place, which shocked the boy who couldn’t understand how anyone could do that to a defenseless creature.

Evan and his mother took the animal to the shelter and in this way the boy was shocked by the number of lonely creatures waiting for a house, so he decided to do something special for each one of them.

The idea of taking everyone home was not an option, but Evan wanted to help them in a different way.

Evan saw the situation so tense that some dogs lived when they were in the shelter cages, so under the guidance of someone from the organization, he started working as a storyteller.

Through reading, the child can calm the puppies.

“The most rewarding experience is when I specifically try to help a dog at risk and can see almost immediately the impact and how they react when I read to them. They start to calm down and some even sleep,” said Evan.

This boy has been working as a volunteer since August and does not expect to retire for the time being. Although for some his work is absurd, since the dogs don’t understand the readings, the truth is that the boy’s harmonious voice can reassure them.

Maybe the question isn’t how much fun the story Evan reads, but how he spends time and pays attention to each dog.

The little one has already established strong ties with some animals and loves to know that his reading can reassure them.

“They stay in front of the kennel and end up snoring in their beds. That makes me happy because I can tell they’re not scared and stressed,” said the boy.

Evan not only plans to continue supporting this animal care center, but has also set a major goal for his future. This boy wants to open his own shelter to continue helping lonelier animals through reading and attention. There is no doubt that Evan not only has a big heart, but he will be a man worthy of respect.
